Games of 6/15 saw 2 competitive low scoring games each decided in the last
inning. In game 1 Home team came from behind 3-1 to win it 4-3.In nightcap in
extra innings home team won by a bases loaded pop by Hewes to score Hernandez
from 3rd.

Sunday 6/8games;Game 1 Hewes v Rosengard and Hewes won 8-2.Hewes had a shutout
thru 6 2/3 innings but bottomof the order spoiled it for Hewes and he did not
get a shutout.Rosengard was hit for 6 runs after falling behind 2-0 due to 2 run
homer by Ivan in left center. That 6 run meltdown put Hewes in the W column. In
the nightcap Sue pitched against Gil. Gil was relieved by Hewes in the 2nd and
Hewes got the win by a 15-7 score,I might be alittle off. There wassome adversity
with the issue of Mr. A [name abbreviated by editor] and Carl cr eated some
adversity himself with his own teamates.Adversity is a great motherprobably the
best mother someone can have.In our league Havelock is the mother, father and
doctor of the league,Gerber,Ciccone are the tutors after Narrango and Bill
Weinberg .We have nobody for the soul, there are no priests, rabbis,or imansor
buddists anyway I have never seen anyone identify themselves as spokesmen of the
cloth,or book so Adversity makes us play better and be better people. Mr. A
probably should have been allowed to play;he may have bunted or doubled as the
outfielders were drawn in.We will not have a civil war but the Mr. A affair
could turn into a Missouri Compromise of 1857 and the Dred Scott case.

Recap of GamesSunday 5/25/08 Tripleheader:Game 1 Hewes team beats Rosengard's
11-10.In Game 2 Derek Martinez's team beat Appells team 9-1. Game 3 Connor beats
O'Connor in a one run game. Sunday June 1st Double header. In game one
Rosengard's team wins in 7 over Hewes team 3-2. This game was knotted 1-1 end of
6. In the 7th Brian Hernandez hit a 2 run homer and the Vistors led 3-1. In the
home 7th Hewes's home team made it 3-2 and then with 2 outsloaded the bases,
fred was walked intentionally. Josh came to the plate and the count was 3-1.I
tried to not get rattled and pitched a strike and Josh hit a deep shot to left
center that Brain hernandez was able in traffic to catch to end it. A nailbitter
of a game that saw some great defense on both teams and good pitching on both
sidesIn game 2 with same teams O'Connor took the hill for the home team and Sue
Kostner LHP took the hill for the Visitors. This game was knotted at 7 end of the
6th.In the 7th Geoghan singled, Kostner walked and Rosengard sigled to load the
bases with no outs. CHARLIE BLOCK came up and hit a shot over the right fielder
Fred for a double and 2 runs crossed the plate score 9-7.Several hits followed
and the Visitors gave Sue a 6 run lead and she retired the side easily to win
the game. Charlie was given the game ball and the players signed it. The games
are very competitive.

Triple Header on May 11th2008:In game 1Dave and Jim pitched and O'Connor's

cross the plate for the vis and they tied the game and tacked on another runin
the the 5th and O'Connor was able to hold off the home team to win it.In Game 2
Gil vs Havelock .Gil was wild losing the strike zone and walked too many and
Home team scored 9 to blow the game open and won it 11-5.In game 3 only 13
players managed a 5 inning contest with Derek pitching for the home team and
Havelock for the vistors. Game went from 1-1 tie to home team ahead 3-1 to Vis
leading 5-3 and then it was tied 5-5 and then in the fifth home team won it
6-5.All games had good pitching, good defense, bestof all good sportsmanship all
the way;even with the capriciou umpiring.

Rosengard L 2 ER Home team got all the runs in the first 2 innings while
Visitors threatened and good defense held them but errors by the home team let
the visitors crawlback and they took the game in the 8th,also on errors. In the
night cap: The line Team 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 R H E Schmerler's Vis 0 2 3 0 1 2 0 8 12

shut the home team down after they scored 2 in the 1st and he shut them out the
rest of the way. Errors again plagued the home team. The first game was probably
the most dramatic game of the day with pitchers pitching out of jams with great
pitching and defense;the tension was high;there was a 4-4 tie end of 7 so I
think it was a memorable game in the history of SBFTLOI.

11-9 going into final frame and gave up 5 runs and Kostner's team held them in
the 7th to get the win.On April 13th Hewes team beat Rosengard's team 5-3 on a
grand slam by Derek Martinez in the 2nd inning to lead 5-0 but Rosengard pitched
well rest of the way but with little offense. In the nightcap same teams
Rosengard pitched again , a 9 inning game and won 8-2 over Appell's team. On
April 20th there were 2 games Rosengard beat Hewes 12-3 in a 7 inning game and
in the nightcap Gil pitched a shut out in 5 innings beating O'Connor 9-0.
Finally on April 27th there were 3 games to close out April's games. With wet
conditions we started at 9AM without batting practice and we had 20 players with
4 accross in the outfield.Derek Martinez and Havelock Hewes were the match ups
and this game seesawed Dereks's team led 4-0 and then Hewes's team scored 5 to
lead 5-4, then Dereks team went ahead 6-5 and Hewes answered going ahead 8-6 and
finally Derek's team took a 12-8 lead and held on the win it.In the 2nd game
Rosengard and O'Connor was the matchup and O'Connor came out on top in a 5
inning game 3-1.In the 3rd game in the far corner field Hewes was able to put
together 2 teams of 20 players mixing SBFTLOI and Carrols team and Anthony
Connor pitched a 6 inning shut out but in the 7th Gil's team scored 2 on a 2 run
homer by Max and Connor got his 1st win 4-2 in 7. April has been the best of
times and the worst of times;most players are hitting hard shots and defense has
been outstanding at times with Outfielders of Nilva,Weinberg,Brian
Hernandez,Paul Brill,Paul Geoghan,Fred lang, gabe hernandez,derek martinez,glen
lawrence,Chris hall and Ricky martinez.Infield has seen great plays by Phil
Ciccone, Dave Sommers,Sue Kostner, Anthony Connor, Gil Schmerler,Jaime
Ochenea,Ian Pelfy.Defense wins games and loses games in our league. The worst of
times are the errors and misjudgements. The sun has not been a factor like it was
in Hastings;it has been cloudy most sundays in April. I hope some STATS appear.

Recap of Central Park Games;Season opener 4/6/083 Games were played with over 24
players. In the opener it was Hewes vs Appell and Hewes" team beat Appell's
team.I think the score was 9-6 but I may be wrong. Appell was hit hard for 6runs
in the 1st but settled down but Hewes pitched out of jams to win it. In game 2
Rosengard and Schmerler pitched and Rosengard's team won.In game 3 played a
field away Sue Kostner 's team vs Jim O'Connor and this was see sawed and was
tied 11-11 after 6 1/2. Then Sue's team rallied to win it 14-11.On April 13th 2

was a grandslam by Derek Martinez down the left field line and Hewes team took a
5-1 lead. Rosengard shut them out the rest of the way and his team chipped away
and fell short. One pitch made the difference. In the nightcap there was a 9
inning contest with same teams;Rosengard went the distance and his home team won
8-2. There was great defense on Rosengard's team with solid performances by Ian
Parfrey at short, Gil at 3rd,Jaime Ochina at 2nd and Brian Hernandez in Center
and the losing team had some great defense by Gabe at 3rd,Derek ,Fred in
Right.Power from Jaime with ahomer,Ricky a homer and Gabe and Brian Hernandez
were hitting deep shots .What can I say further; It was a great time for all of
us;Its great to be back in Central Park and the Ballpark Cafe opens at 11:30
after our games.
