Speaker Biography: Lawrence E. Savell Lawrence E. Savell Counsel, Products Liability and Litigation Departments Chadbourne & Parke LLP mail@lawrencesavell.com www.chadbourne.com Lawrence Savell is Counsel in the New York City office of Chadbourne & Parke LLP, where he has spent his entire legal career. He is a 1982 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where he received a Certificate of Merit Award for the highest grade in the Psychology of Litigation course. Mr. Savell received his B.S. in 1979 with Distinction from Cornell University. He is a member of the Bar of the State of New York, and of the federal courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts. He is also a member of the American, New York State, and New York City Bar Associations. In addition to a broad commercial and civil litigation practice, Mr. Savell specializes in products liability and media/Internet law defense and counseling. He frequently represents major consumer products manufacturers and leading magazine publishers, website operators, and other media entities. The cases he has worked on cover a wide range of substantive areas, including advertising, negligence, contract interpretation/breach, defamation/privacy/First Amendment, intellectual property, employment discrimination, antitrust, insurance, environmental, and federal constitutional law. Mr. Savell has served on the New York City Bar Association Communications and Media Law Committee, and on the New York State Bar Association Media Law Committee. He has served as a moot court judge for the Fordham and Brooklyn Law Schools. His 1983 Albany Law Review article on New York right of privacy law and the First Amendment has been widely cited by courts and commentators including the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the New York Court of Appeals. Mr. Savell has contributed over 200 legal articles to a wide variety of trade, business, and popular publications. The American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Gavel Awards selected his "Old Cars in Law" column in Car Collector magazine (which he has written since 1991) for a 1994 Certificate of Merit award, in recognition of the column's "contribution to public understanding of the American system of law and justice." Mr. Savell regularly speaks before trade and business audiences on legal developments affecting them, and meets with junior high school students on the law and being a lawyer.
